Another one of our loves is going to see live music in Colorado. We are proud to say that our state is filled with great concert sites. With venues from big to small like Red Rocks, Fillmore, Hi-Dive, the Blue Bird, Gothic, Ogden, and Larimer Lounge to name a few, its hard to imagine getting bored in this town. We even have Jazz in the Park on Sunday nights.
On the special nights when you get to see a great band at Red Rocks it is a night to remember. If you have ever seen the music video for U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” then you already know Red Rocks. Red Rocks puts on amazing concerts each year. We have seen several great performances there such as Willie Nelson, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Ben Harper, Ryan Adams, Wilco, The Black Keys, Devotchka, and many more. I am biased but I would have to say one of my favorite concerts at Red Rocks was the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (NGDB) and Willie Nelson. Yes, my dad is in NGDB but I have to tell you it was an amazing show with a ton of great songs and jokes from both Willie and NGDB.
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was in Colorado again this past week. They put on two great shows. It is always fun to see my dad and the guys in the band when they come to town. So I am writing this as a proud daughter. They are my family and all their kids are as close to me as cousins. The guys started playing together when they were 17 and have been going strong for 44 years. So I have grown up with my dad traveling around the world with the band. I think this explains a lot about why I love to travel and why I could live out of a bag forever! So if you ever make it to Denver you have to see a concert and a least visit the natural amphitheater of Red Rocks. You can’t beat live music and looking out onto the the twinkling lights of Denver, Colorado!… A Colorado Love!
