The World Effect Route

After much trial and tribulation, we’ve determined how we will be going around the globe.  We guessed that many factors would come into play: seasonality, tour schedules, following the sun or running from the sun, el nino, la nina, hurricane season, typhoon season, the jet stream, oceanic currents, mystical beast sightings, etc.  At the end of the day, we went with just looking at the map – working our way west to east zig zaging up and down.  It’s always better to be lucky than smart… somehow it worked out that we would be in most places at the right time of year.

As far as the places we picked to visit, we chose to go to mostly third world countries.  This is why we skipped Europe other than Portugal, Spain and London.  We wanted to go to places that may be harder to visit while we’re still young and willing to sleep in Gers for example (Felt tents in Mongolia).  These counties are also a lot more affordable to travel in.  The main motivation for going to many of these places is to experience new cultures first hand and search out local artisans for our new business.

I stumbled through making the animated video of our route below.  We will soon be posting our basic agenda with dates and countries.  To see the map a little better, click the four corner arrow button in the lower right (between the volume control and the word Vimeo.)
