Beau and I have had some amazing food in San Miguel de Allende (SMA), Mexico. I thought I would share our favorites just in case you will be in the area. Listed below are our top three nice restaurants and our top three good eats. I hope you have the same wonderful experience and second our opinion.
Top Nice Restaurant:
3. Tio Lucas - This restaurant is an energetic place with live jazz music and great steak. Besides great steaks, they have an enchilada verde that I craved for the rest of the trip. 2. The Restaurant at Sollano 16 - The Restaurant is a treat for all the senses. There is a beautiful book, jewelry and interiors store in the front rooms of Sollano 16 that surround the restaurant. The style of the shops and the restaurant meld together and create an elegant aesthetics. The food is also dazzling and exciting. The tasty apps and signature beet and goat cheese salad are nicely paired with beautiful main courses. The restaurant is definitely a romantic dinner and a get away from reality. 1. Landeta - I never thought my favorite restaurant in SMA would be an Italian restaurant but never say never. When going to Landeta be prepared for an experience that is intoxicating and slow paced but that is the beauty of it. Landeta is located about 15 minutes outside of town on a hacinda. The chef Andrea Lamberti is endearing and creates an inviting environment. Every meal begins with fresh handmade raviolis and continues on to salad and then your choice of fish, veal, beef, or more pasta. All very good! Sundays afternoons fill up fast with large groups and families dining for hours. 3. El Ten Ten Pie - This place has good inexpensive mexican food with a great location next to the Jardin. Ten Ten Pie is a good place for lunch, an afternoon snack or dinner if you are on a budget. 2. Cantina de Los Milagros - Los Milagros is a favorite of Beau's and his brothers because of the massive quantity of food given in a volcano bowl. 1. Antigua Villa Santa Monica - For a relaxing and delicious lunch in a beautiful courtyard of a boutique hotel, visit Villa Santa Monica. Their sangrias are visually appealing and very refreshing. I love their queso fundido con chorizo and would kill for their chili relleno plates right now. Oh so good! $$ www.antiguavillasantamonica.com
