Getting back in the groove Denver style – Colorado, USA

It has been a weird few weeks back in Denver, Colorado.  Beau and I read on several people’s around-the-world travel blogs how they felt when they arrived home and their transition.  Many of the travelers noted that they felt depressed to be back home and were having trouble reconnecting with there hometown.  After reading post like this, I was very nervous and anxious about coming home.  I even cried on the plane home because I was not ready to come back to Denver.

After a pep talk on the plane, we decide to focus on things we love about living in Denver.  As soon as we arrived home, we had a list ready of all the food we missed and wanted to eat.  Beau and I love food and one of the major items we missed while traveling was the easy access to great Mexican food.  Although, we did find a good Mexican joint in Ubud, Bali called Nacho Mama’s.  Our first request was a breakfast burrito smothered with green chili sauce.  Then we continued on eating anything and everything Mexican. After gaining weight from all the cheese, sour cream, and guacamole, we headed off to the grocery store to start restocking our refrigerator with healthier options.  The one thing we didn’t expect was the culture shock at the grocery store.  Grocery stores in the US are crazy.  We have so much to choose from on the shelves.  Do we really need 50 different types of mustard?  Probably not but hey I am not complaining.  I like options!Being able to cook again was a really great thing for us.  We do get depressed every time we turn on the travel channel and see Anthony Bourdain is in one of our favorite countries.  Then we change our dinner menu to celebrate that country we miss.  It heals the pain and gives us more drive to make it back. I guess the best way to our hearts is through our bellies.

In up coming post we will try to show you recipes we learned in different countries and some new fusion dishes too!  Also thank you for all the notes supporting us.  We promise to tell you more about the business and the fair trade groups we are working with soon!

    Wow! That dinner looks delicious!
And yes, adjusting to life back home can certainly be difficult, but I wouldn’t complain too much when you have the rest of the summer in Colorado to enjoy. I grew up in Boulder and love to return every chance I get!
